Associated Charities
Two local fundraising groups are now operating under the umbrella of Çalış Carnival and working “hand in hand” with them to raise money for good causes in the area.
Introduction
Çalış Carnival is one of only two established charities recognized by FETAV (Fethiye Tourism, Culture and Environmental Education Foundation) which runs and administers an ‘umbrella’ foundation under which both charities legally operate. The second charity group is Fethiye International Group (FIG)
In order for smaller local fundraising groups to operate legally, FETAV now require these groups to work under the umbrella of either Çalış Carnival or FIG with Çalış Carnival or FIG acting as the "parent company" and being responsible for the smaller charities.
Çalış fundraising groups “Embrace” and the newly formed “Animal Aid” have both elected to operate under the umbrella of Çalış Carnival.
Çalış Carnival Chair Peter Clark said “We are looking forward to a good working relationship with these two groups. "Embrace" and Animal Aid both have their own bank accounts through FETAV and will choose where their money is spent and all purchases will be made through FETAV. The Carnival Committee will not be involved in this selection. Representatives of both groups have joined the Carnival Committee and they will give a monthly summary of their activities. This will enable us to monitor and co-ordinate activities and ensure that events do not clash. We can also support each other as we are all working for the same aims – helping either disadvantaged children or animals in the local area.”
About our Associated Charities
Animal Aid
Animal Aid has recently been set up by two British couples living in the Çalış area to help not only the Animal Shelter at the nearby village of Uzumlu, but all types of animals in the local area. As well as fundraising events such as discos and Wii nights and a regular stall at the Çalış Carnival monthly car boot sale, they hold weekly “Animal Interaction Days” at the Uzumlu shelter every Thursday afternoon where people can go along and meet, groom, play and walk the dogs. All money raised goes to providing food, bedding and medicines for the animals. They can be contacted at

Embrace
“Embrace” hold popular coffee mornings and clothing/book sales at the Bambu Restaurant on Çalış seafront every Wednesday morning and last year raised 13,700 TL to help local children. This year their main project is to fund a programme of eye tests for schoolchildren and provide glasses where required.
